At ABRATEK, we primarily use Alumina Ceramics for our wear resistant ceramic solution. Still, in some cases, we find that the properties of silicon carbide make it a better choice. So naturally, we offer silicon carbide-based wear solutions as well.
With a hardness of 1500-1800 Vickers, Alumina Ceramics is one of the most wear-resistant materials on the market. And it provides robust protection against abrasive and erosive wear.
Fastening the ceramic wear layer often poses a challenge. At ABRATEK, we’ve solved this by using vacuum bonding. It’s a process where the ceramic is first mounted on a backing material and then heated in a vacuum. This method gives a powerful bond that reduces the risk of damage due to stress and impacts and increases the lifespan of the wear-resistant layer.
