Hardfaced plates are made by welding an abrasion-resistant chromium carbide layer on standard steel plates. Hardfaced plates have a hardness of approx 1200 Vickers.
The steel backing plate makes the hardfaced plates flexible. They can be welded, bent, or rolled down to a radius of 150 mm. this makes the plates easy to work with and install. The flexibility also makes the hardfaced plates suitable for many purposes, from lining to entire constructions.
